During the spring and summer the Battaglia Farms' breeding facility is one of the busiest in the industry. A four to six person breeding staff, managed by Russ Vento, works with and collects between six and eight stallions each morning. The equitainers are then readied for shipping by 9am to farms and ranches all over America. Russ Vento's years of experience and careful scheduling and planning have made Battaglia Farms a premiere stallion service and broodmare facility in America.

The breeding facility includes a state-of-the-art breeding lab with all of the latest in video microscopes and incubator equipment. A large, 40 by 60 breeding area, and the finest in horse-safe equipment and stocks protect priceless breeding animals, as well as the newborn youngsters that often accompany their dams to the breeding facility.

"We do have it down to a science," Russ notes. "We can collect and ship a stallion every twenty minutes during the height of our breeding season, but we never endanger the horses by rushing any process unnecessarily. Everything in the breeding lab is designed to protect the horses first, and then to aid in the efficiency of the breeding process. That 'everything' includes my experienced staff, some of whom have been working with me for over ten years."

Over the years Bob Battaglia has assisted many clients with their breeding and training programs and has developed his own, nationally respected breeding program as well. "I've had an interest in breeding fine Arabian and Arabian-Saddlebred horses almost since the beginning of my career as a horseman," notes Bob. "I'm proud to say that I've bred six National Champions in halter and performance over the last ten years. The first was Lucille Ball, a lovely half-Arabian mare that we sold to Corrine Stith as a yearling. 'Lucille' went on to be named the 1994 U.S. National Champion Half-Arabian Futurity Filly. Another horse that I'm very proud to have bred is Extreme Echo," Bob continues. "We did that in partnership with our good friends, Burt and Sherry Melton of Rinconada Arabians in Algodones, New Mexico. In the year 2000, Extreme Echo was named the U.S. National Champion Futurity Colt. This year, he's continuing on as a very successful show horse, and also beginning a second career as a sire."

The Battaglia Farms' breeding program is based on top broodmares of predominently *Bask bloodlines, through *Bask, two of his top sons: Cognac and Zodiac Matador, and his superb grandson, Hucklebey Berry. Saddlebred mares, whose bloodlines include Supreme Sultan, Chief of Greystone, Captive Spirit, Sultans Santana and Wing Commander, make up the balance of the program. Bob Battaglia's years of experience riding and training horses of many Arabian and American Saddlebred bloodlines serves him well, as he selects the breeding matches that will create tomorrow's National Champions. Battaglia Farms always has some outstanding yearling and two-year-old purebred and half-Arabian show prospects available, as well as select broodmatrons, stallion prospects, and show horses in training for all levels of experience.
